Camping du Lac

"Warm welcome from owners. A good overnight no frills stop for bicycle tourers. Showers were clean and with good pressure. If lucky you will get a site with a picnic table. A bit noisy due to road noise but otherwise the campground itself is quiet"

"I highly recommend this campsite if you want to spend more of your time on the eastern part of the Verdon Gorge. It's just a 20 minute drive from Castellane which I thought was the nicest town in the Gorge during my travels. It was a beautiful town with an amazing boulangerie and I didn't find it was too crowded. As for Camping du Lac itself, the best part of it are the owners. They were incredibly kind and made me feel very welcome which meant the world to me since I was traveling alone. I was invited to and played a game of pétanque with Rose and Lionel which was so much fun! In addition, they also fed me a meal when I couldn't find one in town out of the goodness of their hearts. (A compliment to the dish as well because it was the best food I had in the whole time I was in the Gorges du Verdon.) Every time I came over to the office they asked me how I was or what I did that day. Lastly, I had a chalet and it suited my needs perfectly with a full shower, microwave, and refrigerator. I always enjoyed opening up the windows and letting the fresh air in or relaxing out on the porch in the evening. Such a fantastic place!"

"Lovely site; it got a thin sheet of mud across the plot when we has a downpour but the ground dried quickly and we just changed shoes when coming back in. Nice walk around the village and to the lake; staff very friendly and reserved bread for us at short notice. We'll recommended."

"This campsite is ideal if you want quiet walks in the countryside, the lake is about 10-15 mins walk, and looks beautiful! The facilities are basic & clean, everything you need, warm showers, small shop & friendly service. There is no entertainment or pool. If you have a small tent ask to camp behind the reception/shop where there is a lovely grassy space in the trees away from all the vehicles and right on the trail to the lake. In late spring there were loads of wild roses and some grassy meadows to roam in, it was delightful."
